3.14

happy Pi day everyone

so in spite of this holiday and the tragedies that happened in Japan last week, why not take 3.14 minutes to reflect on the people that are and have been affected by the tsunami?

my entire life, I've lived miles away from the ocean & since moving to LA, the beach is within walking distance from me. I work in a tsunami hazard zone in Hermosa Beach and my college barely hits a hazard zone. to think that any part of California's coast can be hit with something as catastrophic as the tsunami that recently hit Japan is frightening. looking at before and after photos of Japan today is heartbreaking. imagine if that was your home?

not to put a damper on anyone's day, especially mine because it's already been a rough one!, but it just takes less than 3.14 minutes to donate. whether it's a dollar, or 3.14 dollars, anything helps. go to www.redcross.org or text REDCROSS to 90999 to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.

Haha... Pi day. Every year, that cracks me up more than it should. ;)

I also live in a coastal city (opposite coast than you), and it's absolutely terrifying to me to think that we could so easily be washed out to sea as well. Tsunamis have to be the most terrifying natural disaster I can think of. It's absolutely horrible thinking about the tragedy over in Japan now. :(

I only realized last night at 9pm that it was Pi Day. I suck.

But thank you for mentioning the tsunami. It does not damper my day, but in fact, helps me appreciate life even more. It may sound cheesy, but it's true.
I woke up last Friday morning at 5am to CNN breaking news (I left my TV on) and I so scared, I can hardly imagine what those poor people are still enduring. My heart absolutely BREAKS for them.

I haven't donated yet. I'm thinking about purchasing Lady Gaga's $5 Pray for Japan bracelet. I'm under the impression that it's a Livestrong type thing (which I wasn't fond of personally) but the design for these looks pretty cool.

And just a quick shout out to all those ignorant bastards who are thanking God for punishing the Japanese, you are all heartless, horrible, thoughtless people. I'm not very religious, but MY GOD does not strike his people down just because he feels like it.

Sorry to spam your comments with my rambling. Just had to be said ;)

Oh, I completely understand. I live in an island so whenever there is a tiny quake everyone goes insane. I feel particularly touched by the events in Japan due to a friend who was there and well, I have always wanted to visit such an amazing place full of culture. I really love that many bloggers are taking their time [and exposure] to talk about this subject. It is a very sad thing and spreading the word about helping is the best we could do.

Also, love the photograph! Pie + Pi day = awesomeness.

I prefer to read this kind of stuff. The quality of content is fine and the conclusion is good. Thanks for the post.

These bikes feature a well built frame, with the most high end seats on the market.

The fenders really highlight the whitewall tires as well, yet another feature that makes it one of the flashiest and fun-looking cruisers around Affordable Cruiser Bicycle.
